Blogger 411 Meme

*ahem* While I am slightly insulted that I am a part of CB's second string taggees, I probably shouldn't let her down and not fill out this meme. Maybe if I am a dutiful taggee and fill out every meme she sends me I'll get to be on the first string?

This is a fun little meme that she titled "Blogger 411" and something that actually made me think a little about how I ended up with this addictive and time-consuming hobby. Because dear lord, it is time consuming.

1. Why did you start your blog?
So I was a bit of a blogstalker for, oh, 6 months before I bit the bullet. First blog I found / read through all the archives of was Shauna's. Seriously. Good. Writing.

2. How did you come up with your blog name?
Umm... I'm a chemical engineer... who bakes... and therefore has no creativity. One downside to such a no-brainer of a blog name? Coworkers can find it really really easily. As in google Caitlin + engineer. Or Caitlin + Oshkosh. Or Caitlin + engineer + baker. Well, you get the idea. Really easy. So hello blogstalkers! Wanna fund my habit? :-P

3. Do your friends and family know about your blog, and what do they think?
See above. The ones who've bothered to find this are my friends from work. Everyone else knows about it, thinks it's interesting, but haven't bothered to blogstalk me. I think. Rach? You out there?

The boyfriend knows about it too, and he just humors me by taking pictures for me :)

4. How do you write posts?
I'm going to second CB on this one - what do you mean how? Really it depends on how often I'm able to bake, but the minute I bake, I want to write about it. Well, the first thing I want to do is eat it, but then I want to write about it. Taking the picture? Yeah, that's secondary. It's a good week if I can do more than the TWD post plus one.

5. Have you ever had a troll or had to delete unkind comments?
No. ::knock on wood:: Ditto CB here too.

I did have to add a word verification thingy when I got spam, but oh well.

6. Do you check your stats or care how many people read your blog? If you care, how do you increase traffic?

It would be nice if people read this, to be honest, but I don't really check stats. It gives me an excuse to bake, and lets me network with people who are just as obsessed about baking as I am. Increasing traffic? Well, by doing blog events when I have the time, really. TWD is super-awesome-fantastic, and I love my TWD'ers. Daring Bakers is more a self-imposed challenge than anything else since it's gotten so big. So really, I guess I'm too lazy to really do much of anything extra :-P

Hmm... Tagging...

what up, dude? of course i went snooping after you told me you had this thing - how could i not? anyway, i got my ice cream maker today, so my cooking skillz (recently translated into red onion confit, red wine and honey lentils, and cinnamon and sugar muffins) shall be transferred to churning! rock the house.

p.s.- i only tell you this here because your workplace is full of computer nazis who desire to stamp out all things mildly obscene and therefore fun.
