NFR: A Baker's Mindset

So there I was, at work, writing checks and paying bills (nothing like making me feel like an adult - geez!). And I realized that I needed to get a stamp out of my wallet before I could walk over from my desk at work to the secretary's and plop my (darn you Christmas) rather large check to the credit card company into the outgoing personal mail basket. As I reached into my purse, my hand hit something. No, not my lotion, lip balm, extra set of keys, earbud headphones, spare hairtie, spare earplugs, or spare safety glasses.

Anybody want to guess what I found in my purse?

No? Really, it'd be nearly the last thing you'd think of.

It was a piping tip. As in one of those shiny metal things you attach to a piping bag in order to decorate baked goods with sugar. Evidently, I take "be prepared" to an entirely new level. Next I'm going to find a rolling pin or a brioche mold in there.

Has anyone else had this happen? Where things from the kitchen just mysteriously end up everywhere and anywhere but the kitchen where they belong? Please tell me I'm not the only one...

I don't think I've found any kitchen stuff in my purse yet. There's often an interesting assortment of stuff in there, though. Not long ago I was going through it and came up with a pine cone and bubbles among other things. =)

BAHAHAHA. Honestly it happens to me so often lately that it doesn't even phase me. Case in point. I was getting my ATM card out of my purse to pay for groceries and guess what's in my purse? Freaking box of dragees. What can I say? I protect those little silver balls with my life since I can't get them in CA. Yes, I am a freak.
PS. Mind if I use your question as a future Foodie Question of the Day on my blog?

I once found a very large, white, button mushroom in my purse while I was at the beach. I laughed so hard when I found it that I couldn't stop crying. If there was anyone who was not already convinced I was crazy.....

That is hilarious! Totally something I would do. My 1/4 tsp measuring spoon has gone missing and I don't doubt that it will turn up in one of my bags.

I seem to lose piping tips every time i use them. It's like they are disposable. Except they're not. I've found a chicken nugget in the back of my car when the last time I'd had anyone with chicken nuggets in my car was over a year before. That was an unsettling find. Still looked like it did when new.

No, you are not the only one. I let the baby play in the kitchen while I am cooking or baking. I hand her stuff all the time. She carries it with her when we go. I find measuring spoons and cups in her carrier all the time. I have had sprinkles and tips in my baby bag too!
