This is so not fair. Dorie, I have a schtick. A schtick, I tell you! Everything gets miniaturized. It's my thing. Okay, so it's not an incredibly interesting schtick, but c'mon, I'm not an incredibly exciting person. When my idea of an enjoyable Saturday (a la last weekend) is to go to the farmers' market, then to the local bagel place, then home to bake and lounge while the fiance does a jigsaw puzzle, you know I'm not really much of a firecracker.
But minis! They're my thing! My schtick! And yes, I'm using every occasion to plug in the word "schtick," because it's a fun word to say. And then Dorie goes and gives us mini milk chocolate bundt cakes. Six of them, so I can't even really reduce them that way. Hmph. Hmph, I tell you. So without a schtick, I had to do something, right? Thus, I looked at the milk chocolate in the recipe and immediately decided I didn't want milk chocolate, I wanted bittersweet. Because the only milk chocolate I can find nearby is insipid, and the last thing I want is an insipid chocolate dessert. That's just sad.
I knew others had had issues with dry cakes, but I cheated a bit. Mine baked for the standard amount of time, but once they cooled to room temperature, they were tucked away into a plastic bag to chill out and redistribute the moisture. When we wanted dessert, we just nuked them in the microwave for a minute or so, and voila! Moist, warm, chocolate-y, nutty bundtlets! Almost enough to forgive Dorie for taking my schtick.
Last Week: Cocoa-Nana Bread (yeah, big fail on this one - even guys at work didn't like it much)
Next Week: Rick Katz's Brownies for Julia

But but if you halved the recipe, you would've had only three mini bundts! Doesn't that count towards schtick? ;) Great idea reheating the cakes as a plated dessert. Pass the chocolate sauce!
Reheating those little babies with a little bit of ice cream sounds like heaven to me.
They look great and make me wish I had used dark chocolate! I got 8 mini cakes by using little ramekins. Those look like cannele molds-how many did you get? I reheated mine with caramel sauce and they were great that way.
Those are so cute! nice work!
Yep, minis are your thing that's what I come here looking for each week as someday, someday, someday, I will need minis around here and I want to know how to do it...you are the mini guru. Very cute, photos of your lovely minis.
They look wonderful! What a great idea, schtick-ing them in the microwave! :D
I halved the recipe and put them in a muffin tin.
Yours look so very cute.
Your schtick is one of the reasons I had to go buy mini pans of all sizes! Too cute. Anyway, the cakes look so delicious in the dark chocolate. Nice.
Good call on the bittersweet- lots of people were saying they were too mild. Ah, are we making minis today to punish your ungrateful co-workers last week?! Ha ha ha.
Very cute. I used a mix of bittersweet and semisweet chocolate. Your Saturday sounds perfect to me.
It is rather unfair of Dorie to take away your schtick! I'm glad you made the most of it and found a way to make these little guys moist.
Great job on your mini bundts! They look super chocolatey . I used semisweet instead of the milk but that's only because it's all I had!
I had some yummy milk chocolate, these turned out delicious. I did make a chocolate ganache drizzle for the top. Good stuff!
Girl was a schtick thing to say! haha.
You did a great job again! I wish I had used BW chocolate. Your Saturday sounds perfect to me.
Shtolen shtick?! Shocking! Shcandalous! Unaccsheptable!
I skipped this week but your baby bundts are *almost* making me wish I had one to nibble on...
Very cute baby schticks!!! Please don't be too sad, you'll have your schtick back in no time at all. And, And, And, I want to know how you have a Farmer's Market in Winter? Darn I am jealous....down here in Missouri we do not. Hate that! Also, not fond of milk chocolate myself, however there are some other peeps in my house who do, ICK. I am "aBundtantly" glad that you made yours with dark. May try that too.
Nice treats.

Hey, Dorie may have taken your schtick, but I call it "great minds think alike!" They look adorable and I LOVE the idea of putting them into little plastic baggies! You are a genius, yes you are!
taking you schtick--dorei doesn't know who she's messing with! glad you found another way to make it your own thing! :)
where did you get the adorably tiny bundt pans??
Lovely minis !! I lovew bittersweet too but this was for the kids !
bundt cakes usually intimate me, but your mini version look so cute and perfect.
Mmm wow these look so rich and delicious!
I always love your minis. Glad you found other ways to improvise this time. :)
They look so good! Nice!
Oooh, your minis look rich and delicious Caitlin! How dare Dorie steal your schtick :) Thanks for the tips on making these a bit more moist. Mine weren't dry but definitely more dry than moist and a bit heavy. In the microwave they go next time!
It was fun getting in on your schtick this week! Great strategy with the chill/nuke protocol.
HHMMM!!! Farmer's Market, Bagels, and Puzzles. Sounds like a perfect day to me.
Bittersweet. Sweet idea.
I was fortunate to have good milk chocolate, so I used it. Mine weren't as chocolatey as yours look, but they were still very good. I would like to try them with the darker chocolate as some point, though.
They look great! Thanks for baking with me this week even though your schtick was stolen!
I love microwaving desserts! I microwave pretty much everything from cookies to brownies to ice cream sandwiches! These mini bundts look delish!
